Would You Believe 30ml of Vitec Min-Kel Clears Scours Immediately and 110ml Saves Ewes From Pregnancy Toxaemia? Read what this farmer had to say. Mark Blaxland, Sheep Farmer, Tamworth, NSW. What is The Secret of No Wool Break, Pregnancy Toxaemia Reduced to 1%, Feed Costs Reduced, Worm Drenching reduced to Once a Year, Lambs Have More Condition? “Hadn’t Been Able To Save a Sheep Before. WithinThree Days She Was Back in the Paddock with Her Lamb.” “ We are lambing and because the grass is lacking nutrition, we drenched the ewes twice prior to lambing with (Vitec TRIO) a mix of 7ml Vitec Min-Kel, 7ml Vitec Omega Fish Oil and 8ml Vitec Organic Cider Vinegar . “They can’t do any better! It’s very economical”“I started my Wiltshire stud in 1994 and started using Vitec Min-Kel as a drench 3 years ago. I used it as a tonic prior to joining and prior to lambing and gave the sheep 20 mls of Vitec Min-Kel each. “Sheep Go From Struggle to Motor” (Vitec TRIO) certainly lived up to my expectations “Worst Season since 1902 . . . Sheep in Good Condition” “Four years ago we bought our foundation flock of Perendales from Maureen Nissen who told us about the Vitec drench. Our stud of 100 ewes plus our commercial flock of 200 ewes together 20 rams are now all recipients of a Vitec drench made up of Min-Kel, Omega Fish Oil and Organic Cider Vinegar. 7mls of each mixed togetherand dispensed through a backliner gun that has the ability to handle the combination easily. This year we have introduced NZ Genetics through an AI programme and the results have been fantastic given the seasonal conditions. The Vitec regime of once a month was started 3 months prior to lambing and the dosage was approx 20mls per ewe. Dose cost approximately $0.35 each ewe by 3 times over 3 months prior to lambing. We have 125% lambing across the flocks, AI at 75% and overall losses of 3 lambs and one ewe. The ewes and their lambs are all looking great and we are out to weekly supplementary feeding and they are holding their own despite the lack of feed on the ground. As a comparison we have not used Vitec in our super fine merino flock and we have lost ewes and lambs even though they have had the same feed regime as our Perendales. These sheep will definitely be going onto Vitec straight after marking in several weeks to ensure a better result next year. This has been the worst season in the Hamilton District since 1902 and our Perendale sheep have come through in good condition we believe from the advice and use of Vitec product to maintain the health of our entire flock. Vitec provided a cost effective input and gave great outcome to equal mor Improved Conception rates and Quicker Recovery Rates Using the Vitec Trio Autumn is for many farmers the time for winter lambing, or joining ewes for lambing in spring. Both events mean that the ewes need extra care and attention and their nutritional intake should be at a high level. Lactating ewes need to be built up so they can continue feeding lambs well until weaning happens and ovulating ewes need extra good sustenance prior to being joined so as to assist their conception rate and keep them ovulation cycle positive. Since I have been using VITEC products it has been apparent the conception rates have increased, with a higher percentage of lambs on the ground. (Perendales are more inclined than some sheep breeds though, to produce twin lambs.) The lambs are certainly more robust and lively since introducing a program of regular drenching with Min-Kel. The ewes also appear to produce a greater quantity of milk for their offspring and certainly manage to feed lambs for a longer period. (Depending on the amount of feed in the paddocks it has been necessary to leave lambs on their Mothers longer than is usual, so it helps if ewes are in good fettle to be able to carry them through.) The ewes also seem to lamb with greater ease and don’t suffer from pre or post lambing stress which is important. Vitec Trio – Better Health and Less Chemical Drenching Originally the VITEC supplement was seaweed in fish emulsion which I was using but now that recipe has been changed and when necessary, I add omega fish oil and cider vinegar to the Min-Kel supplement for extra effectiveness. The combination mixture is very useful in the treatment of sheep who may appear to be unwell for whatever reason. There are times when you find an animal who is off their feed and not as bright and lively as it usually is and I have found that by administrating a dose of eighty or one hundred mils of Min-Kel with cider vinegar and fish oil will return the sheep to its well being quite quickly. I also find I am not needing to give parasite drenches as often as I had been in the past which is a great plus. With the onset of lush feed in spring time it is often the case that sheep become too lose and if that isn’t checked it can lead to other unwanted problems, so again, a generous drench or maybe two of Min-Kel seems to repair the gut to normal function so that the nutrients in the spring feed can be used properly by the animals digestive system. A wee rider to this remedy is to add straight Raspberry cordial! My lambs go straight into weaning with twenty mils of Min-Kel every week for a while, followed by every other week until they settle well from being apart from the ewes. It is a stressful time for the lambs in particular and the stress can impede their growth rates considerably. My thanks to Hugo and his wonderful staff for their assistance over the years, I really am very grateful. Maureen Nissen, Perenguh Perendale Stud, Mansfield, Vic Vitec Trio Used as Last Resort. It Worked! “Prior to purchasing Vitec products I was very skeptical about the claims that Vitec put to their products (my husband Steve 100 times more so).We had a very nasty cold change the day we finished shearing. Stock that were already in poor condition due to drought became poorer. Drenching didn’t work nor did increasing their feed. As a last resort I rang Vitec by this time I was prepared to try anything. The outcome was a cocktail of fish oil, Min Kel and Cider Vinegar. I went out one morning and 2 were bloated up. I decided to dose them up on a cocktail, within half an hour their bloat was easing. There was also no incidences of bloat after that either. We have since used it on cattle that were doing poorly and have seen them improve also. Well I guess that leads me to the next stage, that is convincing Steve that we need to give the ground a natural fix. I’ll let you know how I go. Thanks Vitec for providing a great product” Steve and Katrina Birt, Sheep & Cattle, Turilla, NSW Proud Mother “I had a newborn lamb rejected by its mother and scouring badly with blood traces being visible. I called Vitec and started with a mix of powdered milk, filtered water to which I added 1 – 2 ml.Vitec Min-Kel and 1 – 2 ml. cod liver (cold pressed) and gave it to the little lamb with each feed. 5 days later it is now full of life and we are really thrilled.” Robyn Proud, Armidale, NSW Our story begins when Brad and I discussed the concern of the over-use of sheep drenches. My father drenches his sheep at least 5 to 6 times a year while we were drenching our sheep at least 3 times a year to prevent worm infestation especially Barbers Poll worm. Although our sheep appeared to be fat and healthy, Barbers Poll worm caused several sheep losses. The trepidation of sheep loss and the mounting expense of sheep drenches gave us a legitimate reason to consider alternative methods for the health of our sheep. Early 2005 we commenced drenching our ewes with a mixture of 5ml of Vitec Min-Kel, 5ml of Apple Cider Vinegar and 5ml of Salmon Fish Oils. This was given to them in a normal drench back pack and drench gun which proved to be simple and easy. The results speak for themselves as our shearer has commented how fat and healthy our ewes are and my father is envious with how our sheep are more robust and active than his own ewes. Although our paddocks have endured limited feed we have discovered that our cattle appear to be healthier and stronger since we have been adding a mixture of Vitec Min-Kel, Apple Cider Vinegar and Cod Liver Oil in their water troughs two to three times a week. We also now use Pat Coleby’s Stock Lick mixed with a small quantity of barley to entice our stock. My father continually comments how our sheep and cattle as well as their off-spring have improved in size and bulkiness since early 2005. The proof is in the pudding! Since the success of improved stock health we have commenced a two year farm plan with Vitec and SWEP. Recently our paddocks were sprayed with Vitec Combo and already seeing results of greener and rapid grass growth. We have spoken to other local farmers who are also switching to natural organic fertilisers as they are seeing the benefits on their own farms. With such victory results we now use Vitec Katek on our fruit trees and Vitec Combo on our roses. Brad and I believe that getting back to basics will result in the future health of our soils, plants and animals. Our thanks to you all at Vitec for the loyal support and dependable advice you have given us. We look forward to a long and happy association with Vitec and having a positive impact on our farm. Gambier, SA Self - Medicating Sheep in Spotlight from: Stock and Land June 1st 2006 Researchers at CSIRO are testing the ability of sheep to choose plants to make them well. Can sheep get rid of parasites or other ailments by choosing from a range of different plants including shrubs and other perennial plants? Rather than grazing in paddocks of single crops and grasses, scientists hope to find a way to build more environmentally sustainable farming systems and maybe provide medicinal paddocks where sheep self medicate as a form of natural drench. We think that this is great news and know that anyone using a free choice system for stock supplementation will agree. VITEC TRIO TRIUMPHS A customer recently reported that he had” dramatic improvement” in his sheep through using the Vitec TRIO stock supplement. “…lambs that were weaned last summer, were suffering through lack of feed, gave them a shot then tried to do it every 4-5 weeks. Started 6 months ago with 10mls of Trio and gradually increased to 20 mls by 10 months of age”. DIY FREE CHOICE FEEDERS VITEC TRIO & SHEEP DRENCHING Improve Your Returns with Seaweed & Vitec Min-Kel

Self - Medicating Sheep in Spotlight from: Stock and Land June 1st 2006 The Best Barr None. Record prices of $134 have been achieved for heavy second cross lambs by Greg and Jackie Barr of Pinery, S.A. in a time of limited access to abundant feed, as reported in the “Stock Journal” March issue. What was their secret? TRIO! How a small investment made sizeable returns. Last summer Charlie paid $57 a head for some crook sheep and received $116 at market after treating them to a diet of Vitec Trio laced hay. This small outlay and a little extra care has paid dividends.
Charlie, a biological farmer north of Shepparton, Victoria is reaping the rewards of supplement feeding his 2 mobs of sheep. He mixes 750ml of each Vitec Trio component with molasses which he pre-mixes in a bucket then pours over a hay bale. He then pours 4 – 5 litres of water over to soak the mixture to centre of the bale. One round bale costs $150 and feeds 500 lambs over 2 days. The sheep are also treated to the same regime. His sheep ”… have terrific bloom, great lambing result and easy lambing.” The stock agent predicted the sheep would dress out at 46% but Charlies’ sheep achieved 56-57% (i.e. meat to carcass ratio) Not only did his sheep look fantastic they also tasted great. Attendees at a field day on his farm were served “ absolutely beautiful meat” from lambs off his farm. Outstanding flavour seems to be the case of Trio enhanced lamb. |
