BEWARE: Fish fertiliser is not always as it seems

These are some things that will give you a poor quality product.

Acid digestion
Caustic digestion
Fermentation with molasses
Rendering and pressing
Autolysis and bacterial degradation (rotting until stable)
Addition of high levels of chemical fertiliser salts and urea
Autolysis and pasteurisation

When considering fish and kelp products the words ‘fish’ or ‘kelp’ on the label could mean anything from a suburb product to rubbish — a bit like the word ‘wine’.

Most suppliers use processes that destroy much of the nutrients and trace elements present in the fish. Vitec have developed an unique cold conversion process that results in the end product retaining all of the rich minerals and elements originally in the fish. Vitec is 97.5% pure fish!
