Rangiora Corriedales is a boutique, family-owned and run sheep stud based on the outskirts of Melbourne.

Rangiora means ‘place of peace’. Or stud name is a link to our families Maori heritage and where my family comes from. Moeraki is a tiny fishing and farming community half way between Dunedin and Christchurch.

Long, sleepy summers were spent picnicking, exploring the rocky outcrops and fishing for butterfish with my Poua (Grandfather) and cousins. We ate crayfish sandwiches for breakfast and fresh snapper from the trawlers for lunch. I remember loading bull kelp in to the back of an old trailer to put on our vegie gardens.

Early memories of helping my aunt and uncle at marking time on their Merino property in the tiny Southern town of Balclutha are etched in my memories and I believe, where my love of sheep stems from.

Rangiora breed, show and promote the wonderful Corriedale breed. Corriedale fleece combines the softness and bounce of pure Merino with the lustre and long staple of the Lincoln Longwool.

We are proud members of the Australian Corriedale Association and support the Australian textile industry. Our wool is licenced with the Australian Fibre Collective. Rangiora produces quality raw fleece on a small scale, perfect for the spinner, felter and fibre artist.

Corriedales are gentle, easy-care animals and are wonderful mothers. Our Corriedales produce heavy cutting, bright fleeces, with good length staple and an even crimp. Average micron 25 to 30, average fleece weight 6kg.

Our aim is to improve our bloodlines, breeding true to standard. We have created a productive, harmonious environment for our sheep, incorporating ethical farming practices. We love happy sheepies!

We are proudly sponsored by Vitec Organics. They provide us with organic fertilisers and stock supplements and we have had outstanding results over the years. We are passionate about promoting what we believe in and Vitec is one of these products. We are practical and pragmatic farmers who love real results, we love Australian made, we are supporters and advocates of local, small businesses. Rangiora promotes the advancement of women in agriculture.

100% homegrown in Victoria, Australia.
